MONTPELIER PUBLIC LIBRARY INTERNET ACCESS POLICY
The Montpelier Public Library offers free internet access for the purposes of education and research.
The Internet and its available resources contain a wide variety of material and opinions from many points of view. Some sites accessible via the internet may contain material that is inaccurate, defamatory, illegal, or potentially offensive to some people. Users are responsible for determining that information they access is acceptable, reliable, and suitable to their needs. The Montpelier Public Library reserves the right to deny patron access when sites do not meet library standards of acceptability.
The Montpelier Public Library implements filtering software in an attempt to keep inappropriate materials from minors. However the filter can be lifted for patrons over the age of 18. Parents and /or guardians of minors must fill out the permission clause on the library application to allow minors to have the filter lifted.
Improper use of library computers and accessing inappropriate sites will result in the following:
Verbal warning and denied use of computers for remainder of day.
Denied use of computers for two (2) weeks.
Denied use of computers for life.
The Montpelier Public Library reserves the right to monitor the use of all public access computers and may deny the use of the computers at any time.
